-/Burning Abyss †
TCGのDuelist Allianceで登場した「Burning Abyss」と名のついたカード群。
属するモンスターは、エクストラデッキに用意されているものを除き闇属性・悪魔族である。
また、メインデッキに入るモンスターは儀式モンスターの《Malacoda, Netherlord of the Burning Abyss》?を除き全てレベル３で統一されており、以下の共通効果を持つ。
(1)：自分フィールドに「Burning Abyss」以外のモンスターが存在する場合にこのカードは破壊される。
(2)：自分フィールドに魔法・罠カードが存在しない場合に発動できる。このカードを手札から特殊召喚する。
これに加えてチューナーである《Rubic, Malebranche of the Burning Abyss》?以外は、墓地へ送られた場合やそのターンのエンドフェイズに発動する、(2)の効果と同一ターンには発動できない固有の効果を持つ。
- 「ダンテ(Dante)」の「神曲」をモチーフとしている。
また、Malebrancheはこの作品の地獄編に登場する悪魔の一団「マレブランケ」の名前が由来だろう。
それぞれのカード名は、マレブランケに属する悪魔の名称の一部が由来となっている。
- アビス(Abyss)は「深淵」の他に「地獄」の意味も持つ。
ここで言う「the Burning Abyss」とは「清めの火」のイメージを持たれている煉獄の事だろう。
