　[[TCG]]の[[Duelist Alliance]]で登場した「Burning Abyss」と名のついた[[カード]]群。~
　属する[[モンスター]]は、[[エクストラデッキ]]に用意されているものを除き[[闇属性]]・[[悪魔族]]である。~
　また、[[メインデッキ]]に入る[[モンスター]]は[[儀式モンスター]]の[[《Malacoda, Netherlord of the Burning Abyss》]]を除き全て[[レベル]]３で統一されており、以下の共通[[効果]]を持つ。
 (1)：自分フィールドに「Burning Abyss」以外のモンスターが存在する場合にこのカードは破壊される。
 (2)：自分フィールドに魔法・罠カードが存在しない場合に発動できる。このカードを手札から特殊召喚する。
　これに加えて[[チューナー]]である[[《Rubic, Malebranche of the Burning Abyss》]]以外は、[[墓地へ送られた>墓地へ送る]]場合やその[[ターン]]の[[エンドフェイズ]]に[[発動]]する、(2)の[[効果]]と同一[[ターン]]には[[発動]]できない固有の[[効果]]を持つ。~

-現在のところ、[[融合>融合モンスター]]・[[儀式>儀式モンスター]]・[[シンクロ>シンクロモンスター]]・[[エクシーズモンスター]]が共存する唯一の[[カテゴリ]]である。~
「４種類」と言う条件でも、[[ＤＤ]]（[[ＤＤＤ]]）とこの[[カテゴリ]]のみとなる。

-「ダンテ(Dante)」の「神曲」をモチーフとしている。~
また、Malebrancheはこの作品の地獄編に登場する悪魔の一団「マレブランケ」の名前が由来だろう。~
それぞれの[[カード名]]は、マレブランケに属する悪魔の名称の一部が由来となっている。~

--「[[アビス(Abyss)>アビス]]」は「深淵」の他に「地獄」の意味も持つ。~
ここで言う「the Burning Abyss」とは「清めの火」のイメージを持たれている[[煉獄]]の事だろう。~
