今回の制限改訂の発表は2017年5月18日とかなり早いタイミングでの告知となった。
また、前回より二ヵ月半という早さであり、対象となったカードの少なさも考えると夏期に開催される選考会のための微調整の趣が強い。
一方で、新ルール導入に伴う環境の変化を見越した制限緩和も行われている。
- 制限強化されたカードについて
- 《Elder Entity Norden/旧神ノーデン》がOCG同様禁止カードに指定された。
海外では2016/04/11に制限カードに指定されるも、【水精鱗】や【ＡＢＣ】等の相性が良いデッキでは《Instant Fusion/簡易融合》が変わらずフル投入される等、構築に大きな影響を及ぼし続けていた。
それでもOCGとは異なり１年以上に渡り制限カードに留まりつづけたが、TCGで環境を席巻する【十二獣】のターボコンボの１パーツとして《Fusion Substitute/置換融合》とセットで多用されたのが決め手になったと思われる。
- 《Elder Entity Norden/旧神ノーデン》がOCG同様禁止カードに指定された。
- 出張要員として人気の高かった《Speedroid Terrortop/ＳＲベイゴマックス》もOCG同様制限カードに指定された。
こちらもやはり(間接的ながら)【十二獣】規制の一環としての意味合いが強い。
その一方で今回はOCGとは異なり【十二獣】の直接的な規制は見送られている。
- 圧倒的な墓地アドバンテージ獲得能力を持つ《That Grass Looks Greener/隣の芝刈り》が制限カード化。
サーチ手段が乏しいが故に目当てのカードを引き当てるのが困難な60枚デッキで活躍したカードだったため、単なる制限カード指定よりも大きなダメージを受けたと言える。
《Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring/灰流うらら》の登場もあり、【インフェルノイド】等は従来の運用からの変更を避けられない程に弱体化した。
